Call for Application – Three-year PhD grant in health economics, 2014-2017

Download in pdf format

Paris School of Economics (PSE) is inviting applications for a three-year PhD grant starting in September 2014. Hospinnomics, PSE’s newly endowed chair in health economics, aims at encouraging research on organisational and technological innovation in health care systems. The research themes will focus on care pathways, which include hospital stays, both from an efficiency and equity perspective. The goal is to encourage high quality policy-oriented research (with academic publications in peer-reviewed journals) and to contribute towards increasingly evidence-based decisions (with clear incentives to reconcile research and decision making).

Topics of interest will include organisational changes (optimal payment schemes, information & incentive schemes, new production modes such as task delegation, teamwork, telemedicine, individual patient data management), as well as methodological contributions to the economic assessment of new technologies (drugs, procedures and medical devices).

Applicants must show outstanding achievement in their education and they must hold a Master in economics prior to September 2014 from an institution that provides a high level of training in economics. Applicants should have a strong motivation for health economics.

The monthly gross salary is of 1800€. This amount is not net of social charges (around 20%) and income taxes (depending on the family situation). Students from some countries can benefit from a tax exemption treaty. The grant includes social security coverage.

Applications are open both to French and to non-French nationals. Knowledge of French is not necessary. Your application should include:

  • A detailed CV (education, background, internships, research projects, etc.)
  • A letter of motivation
  • A doctoral research project in line with the theme of the research project (5 pages maximum)
  • A link to the Master thesis
  • A transcript of grades obtained during the two years of the Master course
  • In addition, two reference letters should be sent directly by their authors.

The names of the files have to be MynameCV.pdf, MynameProject.pdf, Mynamegrades.pdf.
